… and I’m currently reading Darkside by Belinda Bauer.
The book isn’t released until 6th January, but my copy arrived early and so I thought I’d make it my first book of the year. As Belinda Bauer is a British author, it’s also my first book for the British Books Challenge 2011.
When an elderly paralysed woman is murdered in a peaceful village, the community is shocked, especially it’s village policeman Jonas Holly. As he’s just a village bobby, Jonas is sidelined by a senior detective, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the case of Jonas.
Darkside is Belinda Bauer’s 2nd book and, like Blacklands, is set in the village of Shipcott on Exmoor. It isn’t a follow-on from Blacklands, but one or two of the characters do make appearances.
You can read my review of Belinda Bauer’s Blacklands here.
Last week I read Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare and absolutely loved it! You can find my review in the post below.
What will I read when I’ve finished Darkside? I’ve no idea, but I’ve got plenty of books to choose from!

Oh this one sounds good… going to read review now.
I cannot wait to read this. As I really enjoyed Blacklands.
I hope her second book is as good.
You are a ferocious reader and I admire that so much! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings on this very interestimg sounding book!
Dark Side sounds good. I liked Clockwork Angel, too.
Hi, Nikki-ann –
Thanks for stopping by my blog last week and taking the time to comment. I was out of town, so I’m just now following up on week-old comments!
My son and I started the audio version of Clockwork Angel but haven’t gotten very far yet. We were listening on trips to visit an out-of-state doctor, but now my son (who’s 16) has started driving, and he’s not quite ready for the distraction of an audio book while driving! We’ll have to find some other time to listen.

Dropped by to wish you a very Happy New Year! I can see you are off to a roaring start book-wise. I really must try and find time to read more myself as I have a good stack to get through.
The First book of the year is always so exciting for me. Looks like you made a nice pick!
Apologies that I have not visited in a while – what with the holidays and being ill I haven’t got around to you all. Best wishes to you and yours for 2011.
Enjoy the book…it sounds like a good one to start your reading year with!
