Single Cherry

Cherry

This week’s Thematic Photographic theme is Single. Now, I simply could have put a photo of myself here as I am indeed single, but instead I decided to submit this photo of a cherry. I don’t actually like cherries, but I thought it was photogenic material. I might not like the taste of cherries (or “cheeries” as I keep typing), but they do look delicious, don’t you think? Well, somebody thought they were delicious because the whole tub of them has long since been consumed.

3 Theatres in 4 Nights

Written by Nikki-ann on Sunday, 31 May , 2009 at 9:14 am

I went to see stand-up comedian Michael McIntyre at my local theatre last night and he was brilliant! Michael is doing an arena tour later this year and so last night was part of a number of warm-up gigs he’s doing to try out new material. I’m quite a fan of Michael’s and so there was no way I was going to miss seeing him at the local theatre.

Michael McIntyre arrived on stage to a tremendous arround of applause which was that loud you couldn’t hear him speak for a minute or so (even though he tried!). Some of the gig seemed to be tailored to the fact that we’re in Wales, which I think was great and shows that Michael’s gigs aren’t scripted.

As expected, a few near the front got “picked on”, including a teenage girl who had her phone on throughout most of the performance so her cousin could hear the show… Michael wasn’t too pleased about this and tried to explain (whilst still being funny) that her cousin hadn’t paid like the rest of us so it was hardly fair that she listen in and that she should buy a ticket to come and see him. Even after he’d grabbed her phone, tried talking to the cousin and disconnected the phone, the girl tried calling her cousin again, but Michael spotted her (easily done as a phone is quite bright when it’s on and the auditorium lights are off!) and told her to switch it off.

But back to the comedy… I nearly wet myself laughing at Michael McIntyre, especially when he was talking about being at the gym. I can’t explain it as there were visual parts to the story, but I’m sure it’ll be included in his tour later this year and be part of the Wembley DVD he’s releasing on 16th November. Despite the 2nd half, not being quite as hilarious as the 1st part (and I think Michael felt this too), but it was still a wonderful comedy performance and I’d go and see him again at the drop of a hat. Fantastic!

Tonight I’m having a quiet night in, before heading down to London tomorrow morning. Yes, I’m looking forward to 3 days off work and it’s looking like the weather is going to be glorious. Tomorrow night I’m going to see John Barrowman at the Royal Albert Hall and then on Tuesday evening I’m going to see Oliver! at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane. I’ll probably be doing some shopping and sight-seeing too.

Old Wood

Old Wood

I went for a walk yesterday and spotted this piece of old wood at the roadside. It may seem like any old bit of wood to most people, but looking closely I can make out the shape that looks like a little duck (top left)… What do you think? My 2nd cousin’s wife spotted another bird type shape, this time in flight, down in the bottom right corner. Can you see anything else in this old bit of wood?

Fingerpost

Fingerpost to Bishop's Castle

It’s funny how we pass things on a regular basis, but don’t always notice them. This direction pillar has stood at the crossroads near Kempton for over two centuries, yet I’ve never really taken much notice of it. I noticed it on Saturday morning while I was on my way to Ledbury, so made sure I stopped to take photos on my way back (with Carmi‘s Thematic Photographic “Signs” theme in mind).

(Note: Bs. Castle means “Bishop’s Castle” – a small town in Shropshire).

Leo Sleeping

Leo Sleeping

This is Leo doing what he does best… Sleeping!

Our other cat, Mika, seems to have lost his spring this weekend. He’s having trouble jumping, but seems to be fine walking and running, so we’re keeping an eye on him. Mika really doesn’t like travelling in the car, so we’re hoping a visit to the V.E.T. isn’t in order.
