Poor Robin
Written by Nikki-ann on Wednesday, 6 January , 2010 at 6:45 pm
The bad weather continues, making it difficult to get to work. Yesterday morning I worked from home and finally made it in at lunchtime. However, we had a lot more snow last night and this morning, meaning going to work wasn’t advisable today (especially as our county council is running low on grit and have decided not to grit minor roads and some main ones – despite the county being a rural, hilly one!).
Yesterday morning Dad ended up nursing a little robin. It had flown into the living room window and dropped into the snow dazed. So Dad rushed outside and brought the robin back into the warm, making sure neither of the 2 cats were in the room! We gave it some food and within half an hour or so the robin felt well enough to fly off, which was good to see.
It’s expected to freeze tonight, so tomorrow morning could be fun…….

I’m glad the little robin was okay. He must have had a major headache, poor thing.
I couldn’t make it into work today either. It’s frustrating but the snow is so pretty as your lovely photo shows!

Nikki-Ann: You are experiencing a winter wonderland in your area. It looks a lot like what I’m seeing in Ohio.

It’s been colder for longer than I can remember in the 23 years I’ve lived here in Virginia.

From one hilly rural area to another: stay safe on that ice!
Poor little bird. I’m sorry for its headache, but glad your dad was on hand to help it out (and you were on hand to take such a detailed photograph).

No snow but it’s been really cold here with freeze warnings and overnight lows getting to or below freezing in some areas. Slightly north of me it’s been even worse. We don’t have extended periods of cold like this, and especially not so many freezing nights in Florida. It’s been…interesting to say the least!

cute little robin,
wish i could help,
such innocent creature,
it saddens one’s heart when you see her unhappy.
I love the snow photo,
very majestic,
rather high quality.

The headlines here have focused on our weird weather as well as yours. You’ve captured it so richly – you always do! So glad the robin’s OK – you and your dad are kind souls indeed. I always worry about the animals most when the weather turns frightful.

Pretty scene and ‘ouch’ for the robin. Amazing how tough the smaller birds can be when they hit glass. Larger ones don’t seem to survive.
