Dancing Diggers

Yesterday, Dad & I went to The Pageant of Power at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire. Dad had won a pair of tickets (worth £25 each) and I don’t often turn down a day out, especially when it’s a free day out!
The Pageant of Power is a 2 day event filled to the brim with lots of things going on, including historic racing cars and bikes being driven/riden around a specially constructed track through the beautiful castle grounds, inshore powerboats racing on the mere, modern & classic aircraft flying through the air above the castle including stunts and displays, and military displays. Other fun stuff going on includes car & bike clubs exhibiting their vehicles, trade stalls and the JCB Dancing Diggers (which you’ll have noticed in my photos!).
I’ve seen the Dancing Diggers before, a long time ago when I was a kid, but they’re always quite a spectacle to see. Is it me, or do you think that JCB (above) looks like it’s about to tip right over onto it’s side?! It didn’t, but it just goes to show what you can do with these diggers!
Aparently, the idea for the Dancing Diggers came about after the boss wanted to show a customer just how much he trusted his JCB and so positioned his digger just like those above and drove his own car beneath them (just like the JCB is doing so beneath the other diggers).
Odd things to do with a digger… Just don’t try this at home!
Posted for Thematic Photographic. This week’s theme is Odd.

JCBs are my son’s favourites…
Even before he started speaking clearly, (he used to call them “beem-beem” at that time, I have no idea why!) he used to be so excited at seeing one. And if one of them is doing its work of digging, then he wants nothing more!
Here from Netchick’s.

I’m commenting from my Blackberry, currently stuck in a car crushed by a JCB. Maybe I shouldn’t have tried it at home.

no wonder we can’t get a JCB to do some digging work needed. they are all off dancing somewhere ….
