Stressed!
Written by Nikki-ann on Tuesday, 28 October , 2008 at 9:54 pm
Work has been a bit stressful of late. Over the past week or two, I’ve had to bare the brunt of a number of disgruntled customers for things that are way beyond my control. So, you’d expect me to be happy and excited about a couple of days off work to go down to London at the end of this week.
However, while I am looking forward to my trip in theory, in reality even the trip is getting a bit on the stressful side too! Dad won a couple of train tickets to go down to London which could be used before the end of this year, all we had to do was apply a couple of weeks before. So we applied for the tickets a month ago. However, by last Thursday (a week before our trip) the tickets hadn’t arrived. We phoned them and were assured they were in the post. Friday… nothing. Saturday we were sure they would be in the post, but again there was nothing.
The weekend and yesterday was spent phoning and emailing several people at the train company, only to be told we could only deal with one person. Finally, Dad got hold of her and she said she’d email us the tickets, which I assumed would come in the form of a PDF for us to print out (as I know you can order tickets through their website and they’ll give you an electronic ticket to print out on A4 paper).
The email arrived today. The woman from the company has scanned the tickets (which she’d supposedly sent to us in the post!) in black & white and attached it to the email as a .TIF file which Dad has printed out. It looks like we’ve photocopied the tickets! If I was the ticket person on the train I wouldn’t let us on with that! But what can we do? There’s no time for them to mail the tickets to us as we leave first thing Thursday morning, but if they don’t accept our “tickets” then we’ll have to fork out £66 each! Although, Dad has to survive on a pension so I can see me having to pay for this ticket too.
So I’m now sat here worrying that my “de-stressing” trip to London is going to turn into a nightmare.
I’m also having to take my laptop with me, which I hadn’t planned on lugging around the city. Today, Take That announced tour dates for their 2009 tour and I just knew they’d be going on sale at the end of this week… and they are! They’ll be on sale from Friday at 9am and I don’t intend on missing out on tickets. Take That’s tickets always sell quickly, so there would be no point in waiting until I get home to book my tickets.
So if you see a ginger-haired Welsh girl wondering around London, laden down with a heavy bag and looking miserable… it may well be me!
I’ll let you know how it goes!
