Posted for this week’s Thematic Photographic – Lines
On a side note… I was on my way home from Oswestry and had only just commented that I’d not seen Eddie Izzard on his marathon as I knew he was running through the area this weekend. Just then, who did I see? Eddie Izzard! He was running on the road between Newtown and Welshpool (it looked hard work and painful!). I had my camera with me but couldn’t stop to take photos as we were in traffic (pity!). Eddie is running 30 miles a day in 6 weeks (he says it could be 7!), all in aid of Sport Relief. Well done to Eddie and keep up the hard word!

I went to see stand-up comedian Michael McIntyre at my local theatre last night and he was brilliant! Michael is doing an arena tour later this year and so last night was part of a number of warm-up gigs he’s doing to try out new material. I’m quite a fan of Michael’s and so there was no way I was going to miss seeing him at the local theatre.
Michael McIntyre arrived on stage to a tremendous arround of applause which was that loud you couldn’t hear him speak for a minute or so (even though he tried!). Some of the gig seemed to be tailored to the fact that we’re in Wales, which I think was great and shows that Michael’s gigs aren’t scripted.
As expected, a few near the front got “picked on”, including a teenage girl who had her phone on throughout most of the performance so her cousin could hear the show… Michael wasn’t too pleased about this and tried to explain (whilst still being funny) that her cousin hadn’t paid like the rest of us so it was hardly fair that she listen in and that she should buy a ticket to come and see him. Even after he’d grabbed her phone, tried talking to the cousin and disconnected the phone, the girl tried calling her cousin again, but Michael spotted her (easily done as a phone is quite bright when it’s on and the auditorium lights are off!) and told her to switch it off.
But back to the comedy… I nearly wet myself laughing at Michael McIntyre, especially when he was talking about being at the gym. I can’t explain it as there were visual parts to the story, but I’m sure it’ll be included in his tour later this year and be part of the Wembley DVD he’s releasing on 16th November. Despite the 2nd half, not being quite as hilarious as the 1st part (and I think Michael felt this too), but it was still a wonderful comedy performance and I’d go and see him again at the drop of a hat. Fantastic!
Tonight I’m having a quiet night in, before heading down to London tomorrow morning. Yes, I’m looking forward to 3 days off work and it’s looking like the weather is going to be glorious. Tomorrow night I’m going to see John Barrowman at the Royal Albert Hall and then on Tuesday evening I’m going to see Oliver! at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane. I’ll probably be doing some shopping and sight-seeing too.
