Last weekend we took my niece for a walk to see the ducks at a nearby pool. By the time we got there she was fast asleep in her buggy so she didn’t get to see the ducks after all! Maybe next time…

I’ve been away this past week and didn’t manage to get much reading done. However, I did manage to aquire a number of new books…
I left for York on Tuesday evening, but before leaving work I checked my email (knowing I’d be coming home to loads of email on Friday) and was pleasantly surprised. Why? Well, I discovered I’d won not one, but two books! The first book I won was The Breaking of the Shell by Barry Durdant-Hollamby, I won it via GoodReads.com and it’s arrived already. I was quite surprised, because it’s not that long ago since I won The Wings of Leo Spencer. The second book I won was Fallen by Lauren Kate – I won it in a giveaway over at Book Chick City (Thanks Carolyn!) and I’m waiting for that to arrive (Can’t wait!).

By my last day in York I hadn’t bought myself anything (I like to treat myself sometimes!), so I thought I’d buy myself a book. I know, I know… I’ve got plenty. Well, I went into Waterstones (somewhere I don’t usually buy books from, because if I’m going to pay full price for a book I’d rather pay full price at an independent book shop) and they’d got offers on… “Buy 1 Get 1 free” or “3 for 2″ on certain books. I ended up doing “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” and picked up Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce and Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. I’ve read plenty of reviews about both books on various blogs, which is why I chose those two (Can’t wait!).
Now, you would think I could leave York and not buy any more books. However, on the street between the hotel and the train station I ended going into a couple of book shops and I ended up coming out of one of those shops with The Penguin Book of Ghosts by Westwood & Simpson. The lady in the shop even wrapped it in some lovely green wrapping paper for me instead of putting it in a bag (I love touches like that!).
Then, I got home to find The Blackhope Enigma by Teresa Flavin waiting for me. I’d ordered it from The Book Depository after reading a wonderful review of it on a blog (Sorry, I can’t remember who’s!).
So, as you can tell, I’ve got a whole load of reading to be doing! And those are just the new ones, I’ve still got an ever-growing pile waiting to be read. If I disappear for a while, you know where I am!

Memories of sitting on the school playing field and making daisy chains in the summer.

Found in the grass at the roadside during my walk yesterday evening. I’d actually gone for a walk up the road with my camera, because I’d seen some white bluebells on a previous walk up the road and I wanted to go back and photograph them (which I did).

You know it’s Spring when the fields are full of lambs!

These little lambs were having a cuddle. No doubt their mum was nearby.
